Brisa technologies makes a field visit to Mitra Jyothi Foundation, onboarding with Neki Foundation.
My heart fills with great joy to share with you all that, our Brisa Technologies team has again started the visits and outreach activities with new vigour and enthusiasm. This time we visited Mitra Jyothi Foundation in co-ordination with Neki to celebrate Christmas and New year with the amazing people of the foundation.
The foundation is home to around to 50 students and visually impaired women who receive college education and computer training in the guidance of the foundation. The foundation was established in 1990 by Ms Madhu Singhal, who is visually impaired herself with the aim to support the visually impaired through various programs like college education, computer and soft skill training etc. As a member of the DFI, it is also involved in production and distribution of books and reading materials in accessible formats for persons who cannot read normal print.
During our visit, we spent time with Ms Madhu Singhal (Founder, Mitra Jyothi), students and the residents at the foundation. We had the celebration of New Year with cake-cutting and distributed small token of gift to the residents. Becoming part of a prayer recital by the lovely folks of the organisation gave us plenty of energy and positivity that is worth keeping in our hearts as we are going into a new year. BRISA family is overjoyed to share with you all we'll continue to have similar kind of activities in future, and you're invited to volunteer for the same.

The center imparts basic and advanced computer usability skills to visually impaired and low-vision students. This training is provided through the use of Non Visual Desktop Access or NVDA which is a free screen reading software which enables blind and vision impaired people to use computers The CTC runs 2 Basic Programs (3 months & 2 months duration) and an Advanced Program (6 months duration). These programs make people “Computer literate” and opens up the world of Computers and the Internet to people with visual disabilities. Mitra Jyothi also provides accommodation and food during the course of these programs. More than 1200 beneficiaries have so far been trained under this program since its inception. Every year 75+ Visually Impaired people are getting enabled through this program.
TCS works in collaboration with Mitra Jyothi and conducts job specific training once a year for people with visual disability. They have already trained more than 100 people and absorbed more than 50% of them into their workforce. The rest have been hired by IBM, Cisco and other MNCs and IT Companies.
