On December 17, 2024, 49 bright young girls from Carmel Convent School, Jayanagar, Bengaluru, along with 5 dedicated staff members, visited Mitra Jyothi for a unique learning experience beyond the classroom.
Ms. Asha Shridhar, our Executive Director, shared an overview of the impactful work done at Mitra Jyothi. She also conducted a meaningful sensitization session, setting the tone for the day.
The group then toured our NGO to observe various activities and gain firsthand exposure to the incredible work happening here. This gave them a glimpse into the world of the visually impaired, fostering empathy and a deeper understanding of sensory experiences.
The visit left a lasting impact on everyone involved, teaching valuable lessons on sensitivity and inclusion.
Thank you, Carmel Convent School, for joining us in this journey of awareness and understanding. Together, we can build a more inclusive society!

Visually impaired university students require Braille books to complete their degree. That is why Mitra Jyothi has built a special library, transforming regular university books into books the visually impaired can use. But they need your help. New field studies are opening, and new book editions are published frequently, leaving Mitra Jyoti’s library without basic books. Help these deserving young men and women who, against all odds, are trying to complete their university education. Mitra Jyothi is a remarkable organization that helps the visually impaired gain independence and lead dignified lives. Through Education, Training and Counseling, Mitra Jyothi helps integrate visually impaired into mainstream families and the society at large.
Other details:
We only need one copy of each book.
Once we receive the copy, we will transcribe the book into Braille and audio versions for the use of all students.
You can deliver each book individually or as part of a collection to Mitra Jyothi’s Office.
