Reducing teen pregnancy and school dropout rates in rural Kenya

Providing a year-long education program on sexual and reproductive health to 375 adolescent girls in western Kenya with the goal of reducing teen pregnancy rates and school dropout rates. Over the last year of the pilot project, there have been 0 pregnancies and 0 dropouts from the 375 participants. The teenage pregnancy and motherhood rate in Kenya stands at 18%. This implies that 1 in every 5 teenage girls between ages 15 to 19 years, have had a live birth or are pregnant with their first child. Average school dropout rates for girls in Kenya is 6.5%.
