You may be wondering, “Why Kilimanjaro? Am I the 1st person disabled person to attempt a summit like this one?” 👨🦽⛰️
Kilimanjaro is the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. Its summit stands at 19,341ft with nearly 35,000 people per year attempting the climb. In comparison to Mt. Everest, climbing Kilimanjaro requires less mountaineering equipment and can be done in comfortable clothing with light gear. There are 7 route options up to its peak making it an accessible multi-day summit for people of varying ability. We are taking the Marangu Route.
Disabled individuals have made the Kilimanjaro trek in specialized, terrain-equipped wheelchairs and other means proving that thrill seekers can still chase their dreams. For me, I may not be the first to do a climb of this capacity, but I aim to use the journey as a tool that outlives me and the climb of 2025!
