In the aftermath of her father's job loss post-2002, he deserted the family, leaving Shirin's mother to care for the family single-handedly. As the eldest of three children, Shirin shouldered immense responsibilities. She was on the verge of discontinuing her studies due to the responsibilities

Shirin's encounter with the Kadam Education Initiative became a beacon of hope. Through Kadam Education Initiative’s support, Shirin focused on her education, overcoming all social barriers like early marriage, which is the norm in her community. Shirin was perhaps one among the few in her community who embraced education and moved ahead to pursue a career.

Shirin's dedication inspired her community to prioritize their daughters' education. Despite challenges, she persevered, becoming a mentor for adolescent girls on reproductive and emotional health, showcasing resilience and determination.

Graduating with top honors in 2019, Shirin embarked on a postgraduate course in Clinical Psychology, and successfully Completed her MA with first Division, all while continuing her work with the Kadam Education Initiative to empower other girls. Today she is a staff member of an NGO based in Ahmedabad, reviewing social development program proposals and also managing logistics and administration.
