Imagine a world where every home is safe, every relationship is free from fear, and every survivor of abuse is supported with compassion and dignity. That’s exactly what Laurel House has been working toward for over four decades.
Founded in the early 1980s, Laurel House grew out of a simple but powerful idea - women helping women. From its first domestic violence shelter in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, it has evolved into a comprehensive agency offering emergency shelter, 24/7 hotline & textline, transitional housing, counseling, legal advocacy, medical partnerships, children’s programs, and community education.
The name Laurel House carries meaning too: the laurel is Pennsylvania’s state flower and a symbol of victory - representing the courage of every survivor who takes the first step toward a violence-free life.
Today, Laurel House continues to empower individuals and families, advocate for justice, and partner with the community to end domestic violence. And now, they’re also on the Neki platform - making it easier for supporters to connect, collaborate, and strengthen this vital mission.
